You are only five years old, over-excited and Christmas is the next day. Your mother has made all that lovely food and the huge turkey is being prepared. The tree, with all those twinkling lights and beautiful decorations makes your heart bounce every time you lay your eyes on it. Oh joy of joys Christmas has arrived and you are so excited!
Tinsel in gold, silver, blue and red and sparkle in the dark, and best of all you can smell the delicious fruit mince pies that are cooling off on the kitchen table.
Your imagination is working overtime and you are now completely convinced that someone in a red suit has come for the milk and cookies you left out specially. Your heart thuds uncontrollably in your little ribcage, and then, well, you fall asleep! Before you know it, it is Christmas morning. Oh joy of all joys; you bound along the passage and leap onto your mother and father; so what if it is four in the morning; after all it is Christmas.
Underneath the tree, placed by “Father Christmas”, are so many beautifully wrapped presents. There are simply heaps and heaps of exciting parcels. There are toys for you and toys for your little sister, toys for your bigger brother, toys for fun, and Christmas toys to play with.
But times have changed a little and you hope to get a play station, cell phone or mini computer.
Yet the sweetest toy of all is the very special one you saved for the little boy or girl who has no family, no turkey, no tree, and no mother and father. This is the most precious Christmas gift of all; the gift of caring, sharing and generosity.
